NFL over/under win totals on the way
Last week on the "Leroy's Sports Hour" radio show, I gave out two NFL over/under season win totals: the Rams over 7.5 (EVEN) and the Chargers under 10.5 (+120). Since then, the Rams' over has been bet to -110, so either I was just onto something or some listeners like my reasoning and went ahead and bet it.
Leading up to the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 5, I'm going to post my recommendations on all 32 NFL teams. This is the "View From Vegas," so unlike other sites that all seem to start in the East first and head West, I'm going to start in the Western divisions and work back East (it also helps that the Rams and Chargers are in the West, so it'll be nice to write about those first before the odds change any more). I'll start with the NFC West on Friday and then probably add a division every 2-3 days.
Put your e-mail in the Subscribe box and you'll receive the write-ups as soon as I post them. It's free.
If you have questions about a specific team and want my opinion before that division is posted, go ahead and ask me in the ViewFromVegas Forums and I'll answer those right away (or at the end of the day when I usually check out the forums).

I was one of the few people on the planet who thought the hiring of Norv Turner as Chargers' head coach was a positive for the team. He took Dallas' offense to the superbowl twice and in his head coaching jobs he had the impossible situations of Daniel Snyder and Al Davis.
Turner should make better use of running back Michael Turner, give Antonio Gates more complex routes, and with Phillip Rivers' and Vincent Jackson's basically rookie years behind them this should be the most poserful offense in either conference.
On defense the loss of Donnie Edwards and Randall Godfrey might hurt, but the system doesn't change much with coach Cottrell, and cornerback Antono Cromartie is a pro now, not a college sophomore.
Look for the Chargers to win 12 this season.

Dan...thanks for writing, and I have no problem with the difference of opinion (that's what makes this stuff so much fun)...you make some good points (and I'm certainly no Schottenheimer apologist), but I think the combination of all the adjustments the team is going to have to make with a new coaching staff as well as everyone coming with their best effort week after week (and it's not an easy schedule with games vs. the Bears, Pats, Vikings, Colts, Jaguars, Ravens, plus the Broncos and Chiefs twice apiece) will make it tough for them to win 11. Your pick is on the record though so we'll see how it all plays out. Best of luck, and I hope you come back often.
Yours truly,
Dave Tuley
