Feb. 23: NCAA b-ball picks
I'm hoping to bounce back from an absolutely brutal 1-6 record last Saturday, which was especially disappointing after going 6-1 each of the previous two weeks to get in a tie for third place in the Leroy's College Challenge contest here in town. But as gamblers know, it happens to the best of us. A bad decision here or there, a bad bounce here or there and a 1-6 is not too hard to believe.
But, as always, we try to learn from the mistakes and forge full steam ahead.
In my seven plays today, I'm going against the early steam in two of them with Oklahoma vs. Texas and Tennessee vs. Memphis as the public seems to be betting the favorites. As always, shop for the best number you can. Good luck.
ORAL ROBERTS -1.5 vs. Creighton (noon VFV time tipoff, edge at home)
Oklahoma +9 vs. TEXAS (Sooners playing well and can keep close
Nebraska +10.5 vs. TEXAS A&M (same thing, should be more competitive Big 12 clash)
FLA ATLANTIC -1.5 vs. Mid Tenn St. (both mediocre but at leats FAU 9-3 at home)
Oregon St. +17 vs. USC (OSU sucks but still too much wood for even Trojans to cover)
Tennessee +6 vs. MEMPHIS (Vols can keep up with No. 1 Tigers, more battle-tested in SEC)
Bowling Green +5 vs. DETROIT (both bad, not sure right team is favored, BGSU more balance)
