Football picks (college bowls and NFL) for Dec. 20 through 23

This is a big, big weekend. The college bowl season kicks off and the NFL is down to the final two weekends with teams going for playoff spots or positioning, or playing out the string. It adds any element to handicapping the games. In my opinion, it creates value on the underdogs as the spreads get inflated. I won't narrow down my best bets in case some of those who are competing against me in the Hilton SuperContest are scouting my plays. So, I'll list all the games I've either bet already or that I'm waiting to move further in my favor, but first are the six bowl games that make up Block 1 in our pointspread/total contest:

Saturday, Dec. 20 -- Eagle Bank Bowl
Navy +2.5 vs. Wake Forest

Saturday, Dec. 20 -- New Mexico Bowl
Fresno St. -2.5 vs. Colorado St.

Saturday, Dec. 20 -- St. Petersburg Bowl
Memphis +12.5 vs. South Florida

Saturday, Dec. 20 -- Las Vegas Bowl
BYU +2.5 vs. Arizona

Sunday, Dec. 21 -- New Orleans Bowl
Troy St.-Southern Miss under 54.5

Tuesday, Dec. 23 -- Poinsettia Bowl
TCU -2.5 vs. Boise St.

And here are the NFL games (using lines from the Hilton SuperContest) that I've either bet or am waiting to bet...and the ones I'll be choosing from for the Hilton and Leroy's contests:

JAGUARS +6 vs. Colts (used this in Hilton...ouch!...many will be glad I didn't give out the play here)
CHIEFS +3.5 vs. Dolphins
BROWNS 2.5 Bengals
REDSKINS +5.5 vs. Eagles
RAMS +5 vs. 49ers
Falcons +3.5 vs. VIKINGS
LIONS +6.5 vs. Saints
Panthers +3.5 vs. GIANTS
RAIDERS +7 vs. Texans
Bills +7 vs. BRONCOS
Chargers +3.5 vs. BUCCANEERS

Good luck, everyone.

Note: the deadline for the pointspread/totals bowl contest was 11 p.m. Friday night, but for those receiving this early Saturday, the free straight-up contest being run through ESPN.com can still be entered until 8 a.m. Pacific Time on Saturday.
